System Force I.T. based in Quedgeley, Gloucestershire has recently put its entire workforce through a first aid and fire safety training course that could help them save lives.
A study released by St. John’s Ambulance revealed that 140,000 people die each year in the UK from incidents where first aid could have possibly saved their life and a Red Cross survey shows that only 5% of adults have the skills and confidence to provide first aid in emergency situations.
Bosses at System Force I.T., who provide I.T. solutions alongside support services to customers nationwide, frequently attending client offices to install new equipment, paid for every member of staff to take part in the Emergency First Aid and Fire Extinguisher training courses this month.
The aim was to teach staff life-saving skills they could be called on to use at work, on-site with a client or at home during their personal time.
System Force I.T.’s new uniform will have a first aid symbol, to signify the wearer is able to assist in an emergency.
Lee Williams, Lead Engineer, who took the course said: ‘I personally found both courses enjoyable and empowering. As field engineers, we spend much of our working life away from the office; it’s good to be prepared, if help is required.’
Director of System Force I.T. Jez Walton said: ‘We’re delighted that our entire team have now completed their first aid and fire extinguisher courses; we feel it gives our employees the confidence and education to respond in the appropriate manner, should an emergency arise. It’s crucial everyone understands the risks and dangers associated with working with computers and electrical equipment and be able to act quickly and appropriately in emergency.
These courses protect our workforce, our clients, and each of us individually, by teaching us how to react in emergency events. Our team spend a lot of time visiting clients, who appreciate knowing they have a first aid trained person on site when we are there.
