IT Infrastructure & Cyber Security for Businesses in Worcester

WORCESTER BUSINESSES

Is your network one server failure away from a very bad week?

Many Worcester manufacturers and professional firms are running on infrastructure that grew piece by piece over the years, an ageing server, a flat network, backups nobody has actually tested. It works, until the day it doesn’t.

A straightforward conversation, no jargon, no obligation.

Sound familiar?

The server room tells a story of growth, not design

The main server was bought when the business was half the size it is now. A NAS was bolted on when storage ran out. Someone’s old desktop still runs a piece of software nobody wants to touch. It works, but nobody would design it this way from scratch.

Backups exist, but nobody has proven they’d work

A backup job runs every night and a green tick appears in an inbox somewhere. Whether that backup would actually restore the shop floor systems or the accounts package in a crisis has never been tested, because there’s never been a good time to find out.

Security got added on, not built in

Antivirus here, a firewall rule there, a password policy nobody quite enforces. It was never designed as a whole, and now a customer or insurer is asking for evidence of Cyber Essentials or multi-factor authentication that isn’t fully in place yet.

We understand why this happens

Nobody sets out to run a fragile network. Worcester’s manufacturers and professional firms are focused on production schedules, client deadlines and payroll, not server refresh cycles. Infrastructure gets extended rather than redesigned because there’s always something more urgent that week. Then a customer contract or a cyber insurance renewal asks a question nobody has a confident answer to, and the gap between “it works” and “it’s actually resilient and secure” becomes very visible, very quickly.

System Force IT has supported businesses across Gloucestershire and neighbouring Worcestershire since 2006. We are UKAS ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Certified, a Microsoft Solutions Partner, Cyber Essentials certified, a Certified 3CX Partner and a RIPE NCC Member. For Worcester businesses, that means infrastructure and security work assessed against the same standards we hold ourselves to, not a generic checklist.

How it works

1. Book a free infrastructure and security review

A short call or site visit with one of our engineers, thirty to forty minutes, to understand your current servers, network and backup setup. No pressure, no sales pitch.

2. We map what you have against what you need

We look at servers and virtualisation, network and firewall configuration, backup and disaster recovery, and the cyber controls, endpoint detection, email security, MFA and patching, that protect them, then flag the gaps in plain English.

3. You get a prioritised, no-obligation plan

A written summary ranking what matters most first, whether that’s a single ageing server or an untested backup, so you can decide what to fix and when, with or without us.

Most businesses only find out their backup doesn’t work on the day they need it.

What better looks like

Picture a network built to be understood, not just remembered by whoever set it up. Servers that are documented and sized for what the business actually needs. A backup that’s been tested and proven to restore, not just scheduled. Security controls that answer a customer’s or insurer’s questions with evidence, not a shrug.

  • Confidence that a hardware failure is an inconvenience, not a crisis
  • A backup and disaster recovery plan you’ve actually seen work
  • Cyber Essentials-aligned controls you can point to when asked
  • One less thing on your mind while you run the business

Common questions

Do you have an office in Worcester?

No, our office is at Waterwells Business Park in Quedgeley, Gloucester. We support businesses across Worcester and the surrounding area remotely and on-site as needed, without the overhead of a local office.

Can you work with our existing IT setup rather than replacing everything?

Usually, yes. Most reviews identify a handful of priority fixes rather than a wholesale rebuild. We’ll always tell you honestly what needs replacing and what can be improved as it stands.

What does the free review actually involve?

A conversation about your servers, network, backup and security setup, followed by a written summary of what we found and what we’d prioritise. There’s no obligation to act on it or to use us.

We’re not sure our backups would restore properly, is that common?

It’s one of the most common gaps we find. A backup job running successfully and a backup that restores correctly are not the same thing, and testing that difference is usually straightforward once someone makes time for it.
